About Diane Johnston, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Diane Johnston, APRN, PMHNP is a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner licensed in New Mexico, New York, and Connecticut. She is skilled in a variety of mental health counseling modalities, including psychotherapy, EMDR, mindfulness, and meditation, providing services in family therapy and adolescent and adult psychiatry.

In addition, Diane specializes in psychiatric evaluations and medication management. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Diane is uniquely qualified to provide therapy and psychiatry, including prescribe medications, conduct evaluations, create a care plan, and make medical referrals.

Diane has been in private practice for over 23 years. She collaborates with non-prescribing mental health professionals. She also works with patients of internal medicine and family practice physicians as well as integrative medicine practitioners. Diane facilitates 10-week groups for adults and adolescents in which she teaches mind/body practices such as relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness. These groups have been highly successful in helping to significantly reduce stress and promote overall health.

Diane received her master’s as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Columbia University School of Nursing.

Her post-graduate studies and certifications include the Family Therapy Institute of Westchester in White Plains, New York; EMDR training with William Zangwill in New York City; and a fellowship in pain and palliative care at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is also APRN board certified.

In addition to being a skilled mental healthcare practitioner, Diane is a talented musician, and studied jazz performance and composition at Manhattan School of Music.
